Morning tea with the Minister
In April and May of 2009, NDS invited service providers in Townsville and Cairns to participate in conversations with the Minister for Disability Services, the Hon Annastacia Palaszczuk MP.
During both the events, the Minister and NDS State Manager, Valmae Rose spoke about their visions and hopes for the future and encouraged participants to do the same.
Over 100 service providers attended the events (including representation from Disability Services). The following word clouds were generated from feedback taken from each event.

Hosting the conversations that matter
Following our recent Communities of Practice Conference, NDS has invited stakeholders from all over Queensland to host conversations in their community to ask the question:
'What would it take to create a thriving community driven disability service system that meets the needs of all people with a disability in Queensland?'
The ideas and priorities for action identified through those conversations were published here in PDF on Wednesday, 10 December 2008 (Human Rights Day) and will inform NDS' input into service delivery reforms that Disability Services Queensland is currently working on.
The conversations took place Wednesday, 3 December 2008 (International Day of People with Disability). Thank you to everyone who took the time to download the hosting 'conversations that matter' kit and hosted a conversation to answer this important question.
